Carrier - Carlyle - Totaline compressors have contributed to the air conditioning and refrigeration industry by producing a variety of compressors that have stood up to the test of time. The combined efforts of these two former individual companies have led to an even better product that is a common choice for a host of reasons. Below is a more detailed look at some of the compressors produced by Carrier - Carlyle - Totaline.
Carrier - Carlyle - Totaline builds quiet dependable performance into an air-conditioning or refrigeration system with the 06D and 06E serviceable reciprocating compressor units. Carrier compressor products are heavy duty motor driven compressors and typically have higher capacity. Use these units with air-cooled, water-cooled or evaporative condensers. They combine top performance with economical operation. The reciprocating compressors lessen the drain in regard to horsepower. There is a limit to torque pulsations because of the unique cylinder design. They deliver a very substantial amount of pressure with very low rpm’s. The 06D and 06E models have high flow automatically reversible oil pumps that provide positive displacement oil lubrication. Each model has oil pressure switches. High efficiency valves provide increased refrigerant flow and lower pressure drops. They also have oversized sumps to hold extra oil in the crankcase to prevent levels dropping below safe lubrication ranges during flooded starts.
Carrier - Carlyle - Totaline’s line of screw compressors has a number of advantages by using this popular version. Expensive high-torque motors are unnecessary due to the automatic unloading during start-up. Due to the unique crankcase, cylinder head and valve plate designs, these compressors allow for a smooth, unrestricted refrigerant flow. The refined, two-piece shaft seal assembly virtually eliminates seal leakage for maximum reliability over a wide temperature range. The efficient crankcase heater design prevents accumulation of liquid refrigerant in the crankcase during shutdown, virtually eliminating the dilution of the compressor oil supply. As suction pressure changes, the capacity control automatically reduces compressor capacity to as low as 35% of full-design load, reducing horsepower requirements as demand changes. Part-load operation increases energy efficiency, thus reducing utility bills. The large-capacity, manually reversible oil pump, automatic pressure regulator, and oil-filtering system provide positive pressure lubrication, extending life of the compressor and reducing repair and maintenance. Increased cylinder cooling is achieved by the suction gases flowing around the cylinder sleeves to keep the cylinder cool and reducing cylinder wear. Also note that greater operating efficiencies can be achieved by running an oversized compressor at a reduced RPM.
There are remanufactured Carrier - Carlyle - Totaline compressors available at City Compressors and these operate with high EOM efficiency. During this process, our team of experienced technicians use OEM equivalent parts to ensure each compressor runs just as it did when it came off the assembly line when new. Carrier - Carlyle - Totaline produces an excellent product and our remanufacturing equals the value, performance and standards of an original compressor. There is a certain level of skill needed to perfect the remanufacturing of Carrier - Carlyle - Totaline products and City Compressors delivers on all fronts.
